22nd Südtirol Gardenissima: World's longest Giant Slalom

The longest giant slalom race in the world extends from the Seceda pastures six kilometres downhill to Col Raiser.
Anybody can enter as long as they can present a medical certificate and a FIS membership card or third party insurance. The large number of participants (650) is evidence that skiing conditions in Val Gardena are excellent until spring.
Competitors in this giant slalom event include numerous national and international ski athletes as Isolde Kostner, Peter Runggaldier, Ilka Stuhec, Marc Girardelli and many others.

The easiest way to get to Val Gardena is via the Brennero/Brenner Motorway (A 22).
Travelling from the north from Innsbruck and the Brennero Pass or from the south via Verona and Bolzano, exit at Chiusa/Klausen and follow the signs for Val Gardena. The onward drive to Ortisei/St. Ulrich takes around 20 minutes, from where Santa Cristina is just only a few kilometres further. Turn left at the end of the village and continue for 300 metres to the lower terminal of the Col Riser. Parking available.
