There is a large marmot population in the area at the foot of the Plattkofel. This is why this tour is often called "Marmot walk". With a bit of luck you might even come a cross one of those animals on this trail.
Author’s recommendation
A special characteristic of the marmot is its whistle, which has the function of warning its companions from danger. One time this animals whistled even at the encounter with people, however nowadays most of them are confiding in us.
Nevertheless, keep a sufficient distance from the animals and remain calm in their presence.
