105 Museum Gherdëina Nature, Art and Culture from Val Gardena Geology, woodcarving, artistic tradition, and personalities: Museum Gherdëina offers a compact overview of everything that shapes Val Gardena. The journey through time begins 250 million years ago with fossils and minerals – including a virtual reality experience of the ichthyosaur from Secëda. Starting in December 2025, the new interactive exhibition “From Wood to Play” will showcase the toy-making art of the SEVI company: original pieces and design sketches illustrate the path from craftsmanship to industrial production, inviting young and old to marvel, craft, and take part. Also on display are masterpieces of sacred and secular woodcarving from four centuries, the richly illustrated Lenten veil from the Church of St. Jacob, and rare late-medieval red chalk drawings. The exhibition concludes with a tribute to mountain film pioneer and storyteller Luis Trenker. Guided tours in Italian, German, and English (upon request).
