The meet & greet with the rock stars of the Dolomites

The Curona de Gherdëina is one of South Tyrol’s most impressive hiking routes, redefining trekking for experienced mountaineers and leisure hikers alike. Over some 60 kilometres, this multi-day tour circles the entire Val Gardena valley and leads through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Dolomites.

A line-up that makes every hiker’s heart beat faster

Val Gardena is world-famous for its legendary peaks, but the Curona de Gherdëina (Ladin for “Val Gardena Crown”) truly is the icing on the cake. It is an invitation to explore the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites in all their majestic glory. From the Odle peaks across the Puez plateau to the Sella massif, Sassolungo and Seiser Alm, hikers come face to face with the Alps’ true “rock stars”.

The rock stars of the Dolomites are waiting for you!

The Curona de Gherdëina is far more than just a hike – it is an exclusive journey through the most spectacular settings of the Alps. The combination of impressive daily stages, modern infrastructure, cosy accommodation in the valley and charming alpine refuges, makes this tour especially appealing for both experienced mountain hikers and ambitious leisure trekkers.

5-day Deluxe Trekking (5 days | 4 nights)

Summit thrills by day, comfort by night

The “Deluxe” option combines high-alpine trekking with comfortable overnight stays in the valley. Excellent infrastructure with modern lift facilities and the free transport provided by the “Val Gardena Mobil Card” mean you can plan the stages with ease. In the morning, you set off directly from your chosen accommodation and glide up into the vertical world of the Dolomites by cable car. After a day full of adrenaline and breathtaking views, return to the comfort of your hotel, apartment or guesthouse in Ortisei, Santa Cristina or Selva Val Gardena.
Top tip: many stages start directly at lift stations, reducing the elevation gain. The “Val Gardena Card” is highly recommended.

The Ultimate Line-up: The 5 Stages

Every day on the Curona de Gherdëina feels like a new chapter, revealing a different side of the Dolomites:

  • Stage 1 – The Opener: Odle Glow & Seceda Vibes
Right from the start, this tour showcases one of the most photographed places in the world. From Resciesa Alp, the route follows the dramatic Odle peaks towards the famous Seceda Ridge Line. The razor-sharp rock formations are “rock stars” you’ll definitely want a selfie with!
  • Stage 2 – Backstage: The Lunar Landscape of Puez
The second stage leads into a surreal world. From the Cisles Valley, the trail climbs across the Siëles Saddle onto the barren karst landscape of the Puez Plateau. The contrast between the deep blue Crespëina Lake and the rugged Cir peaks feels like pure Dolomites cinema.
  • Stage 3 – The Headliner: The Queen Stage across the Sella Massif
Crossing the Sella massif is the heart of the tour. Following the “Trail of Legends”, hikers ascend to Pisciadù Lake and continue onto the vast Sella Plateau. The immense alpine scenery is breathtaking before the descent through the waterfall-rich Lasties Valley to Sella Pass.
  • Stage 4 – The Solo: Sassolungo
The fourth stage crosses the fascinating “Stone City” and follows the panoramic Friedrich August Trail with stunning views of Marmolada, Catinaccio, and Seiser Alm. For a more alpine adventure, hikers can instead cross the impressive Sassolungo Pass using the historic “coffin lift”.
  • Stage 5 – The Grand Finale: Chill-out on Seiser Alm
The final stage becomes gentler, but no less spectacular. Seiser Alm, Europe’s largest high-alpine pasture, offers vast alpine meadows and breathtaking panoramic views of Sassolungo and the Sciliar massif. It is the perfect happy ending after days filled with summit adventures.

4-day mountain huts trekking (4 days | 3 nights)

Mountain adventures by day, authentic mountain hut atmosphere by night

This four-day hut-to-hut trekking tour offers pure nature and adventure! Covering around 60 kilometres, the route leads from the alpine meadows of Resciesa through the idyllic Cisles Valley and the Puez-Odle Nature Park, across Gardena Pass and the impressive Sella Plateau to the spectacular Sassolungo Group, before crossing the vast Seiser Alm and returning to Ortisei. Rustic mountain huts, breathtaking panoramas, and unforgettable sunrises and sunsets make this tour a truly special experience for all mountain lovers.
