Welcome to Val Gardena’s Sustainability Project!

In a time when the impacts of climate change are becoming increasingly evident, it is of utmost importance to find and implement sustainable solutions. That is why we have initiated the Sustainability Project Val Gardena and formed a dedicated working group. The fact is, tourism provides the local population in high alpine valleys, like Val Gardena, with a means of livelihood and numerous job opportunities. However, it is important to master the healthy balance between quality of life, nature conservation and economic efficiency.

In March 2023, Gröden obtained the certification for the application of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) standards for sustainable tourism, which was carried out through the audit by Vireo. With this internationally recognized label, we aim to underscore our commitment to responsible tourism.

The certification marks the official beginning of a broader project. Our focus lies in promoting increasingly sustainable tourism by prioritizing environmental protection, social, cultural responsibility, and hospitality. The preservation of alpine farming, language, culture, and traditions is also of great importance.

Our foremost concern is preserving the magnificent natural environment for animals, plants, and people. To this end, we are dedicated to the development of verifiable climate concepts. All our projects, initiatives, and events are designed with a consciousness of their economic, ecological, and social impact, in line with the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Our goal is to encourage residents, companies and guests to act responsibly and sustainably, in order to protect our precious natural DOLOMITES heritage and preserve it for future generations.
