Basic rules: safe hiking

The mission of Mountain Rescue is to assist people in alpine emergencies. Please note: As in many other Alpine regions, all first responders of the Val Gardena Mountain Rescue team (Judacrëp Gherdëina) serve voluntarily to help both visitors and locals.
Call the emergency number 112 only in genuine emergencies.

• Planning an outing
  Choosing and preparing a tour starts at home.
  
• Appropriate equipment
  Only climb the mountain with full equipment.
  
• Fit for the mountains
  Good health is a basic requirement – also for the dog.
  
• Inform about the destination of the trip
  So that if needed, help can be given quickly.
  
• Beware of alpine dangers
  Recognise danger in time.
  
• Provide help
  and take responsibility for others.

Mountain and Air Rescue

The volunteer mountain rescue team of Val Gardena is ready to go all year round. Call 112 to place your emergency call. N.B.: helicopter rescue missions are not free. Info: www.aiut-alpin-dolomites.com
The subscription cost for the full year amounts to Euro 40,00 per person or Euro 60,00 for the whole family and is valid in all Europe. Keep in mind that this is a service which should be contacted only in case of extreme emergency!

Emergency calls must always be made exclusively via the European emergency number 112 or through the official app “Where Are U”.
The Where Are U app allows you to contact 112 with a single tap (where available), automatically sending your exact location and any personal information stored in the app (such as name, phone number, medical details, or emergency contacts). This helps rescue teams locate you faster and respond more efficiently.
