Cleaning day
In the 1980s, the initiative "Rumé su nosc luech" (in Ladin we clean up our place) was launched by the municipalities of Val Gardena in collaboration with the Tourism Associations. All citizens, including school classes, are invited to clean up the village. Divided into groups, they comb the footpaths, forests, and streams, collecting all kinds of waste.
While at the beginning of the campaign, larger bulky waste items were often found, nowadays, almost exclusively small everyday rubbish is discovered, which is naturally encouraging. This suggests that society is now highly sensitized and no longer disposes of waste in nature.
Furthermore, the Tourism Association of S. Cristina supported a „Cleaning Day“ on September 3, 2023, held at Monte Pana and organized by the Geocachers of Val Gardena.
