The best time for hiking and essential tips to explore Seceda

The best season for hiking on Seceda in Val Gardena is summer. From mid-May, under normal conditions, Seceda is already accessible and appealing in spring, while until early/mid-November it offers ideal conditions for panoramic autumn hikes.

Outside this period, as well as during the winter season (from early December to early April), Seceda can only be reached on foot via hiking trails, as the lift facilities are closed.

Before your hike to Seceda, especially in spring/early summer and late autumn, check current snow conditions via high-resolution live cams and panocams. Additional safety is provided by information from the local Val Gardena tourist offices and experienced local mountain guide or hiking guides, who can offer valuable seasonal advice.

Plan your tour realistically, check the local weather forecast, do not underestimate the route or your physical condition, and carry sufficient water and provisions, as mountain huts may be closed outside the main season. Weather-appropriate clothing and hiking boots with good grip are essential.
