The "Pilat" slope which leads from the mountain station of the Seiser Alm gondola to Ortisei will be officially reopened from 8 December 2021. A historic moment!
After several years of planning and more than two years of intensive work, the long-awaited opening of the "Pilat" piste has now become reality. The driving force behind the project was the Ortisei Tourism Association. The slope had not been open for more than 25 years and one could no longer ski on it.
The former natural downhill run, which was carefully and elaborately designed, leads through the rocky woods from the Seiser Alm to Ortisei and is now a spectacular, winding forest run with a unique view of the entire Val Gardena valley.
The almost 5 km long slope with a difference in altitude of 744 m has the difficulty level "red" and is moderately difficult with an average gradient of 17%. In the middle, there is the option of skiing a section on the "Direttissima" variant, which is classified as "black" with a maximum gradient of 59% and is technically demanding.
