Special award for an accommodation of Val Gardena

Val Gardena can boast another very important and honourable award. Recently, the Vitalpina Hotel Dosses in S. Cristina was awarded with the European Eco-label for Tourism (EU Ecolabel). According to the owners, this is the highest state award for environmentally conscious tourism companies.

"The eco-label is a voluntary system and we would like to demonstrate our commitment and responsibility for environmentally conscious business management by participating in it. In many areas our company has to meet strict requirements, which are independently audited. The implementation of the criteria and the optimizations in our company went very well with the support of Rainer Stifter, Managing Director of Energon, an environmental expert with many years of experience in tourism. Through these measures we hope to be able to offer our guests a pleasurable and comfortable stay and, at the same time, to optimize the use of resources and minimize negative environmental impacts", explain Helene and Oskar Turini, owners and operators of the ****S hotel.
The EU Ecolabel is the European Union's eco-label (EU Ecolabel) that distinguishes products and services that, while guaranteeing high performance standards, are characterised by a reduced environmental impact throughout their entire life cycle. The criteria of the EU Eco-label for tourism are designed to minimise the greatest environmental impact during the three life cycle phases of the service (purchase, provision, disposal). In particular, they aim to limit energy consumption and the preferential use of renewable energy sources, to limit water and waste consumption, to use substances and materials that are not harmful to the environment, to promote the regional economy and culture, and to promote environmental communication and education.

"In Italy, ISPRA - Istituto Superiore per la Protezione e la Ricerca Ambientale - regularly checks compliance with the 67 criteria. This ensures from the government side that we meet all requirements", underlined the owners. "This award is of course a special pleasure for us. We believe in it very much. It is an important recognition for our commitment to environmental awareness," concludes the Turini family.
